Charles Froehlich, 91, of Wharton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born in Goose Creek, Texas on May 7, 1927 to the late Rev. Anton and Ada Baepler Froehlich.
Charles was raised in the Houston area. He began college at Vanderbilt University, before joining the United States Navy in 1944. Returning home from the Navy, he entered Concordia Seminary, St Louis and received his Bachelor of Divinity degree, and several years later his Masters’ of Sacred Theology. In 1960 he was ordained into the ministry by his father. In 1962 he began his teaching career at Concordia College in River Forest Illinois, serving as professor of Theology and Classical Languages until his retirement in 1997. In 2002 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Concordia Seminary.
Survivors include: sister Charlotte and husband, Bob Hullinger of Cincinnati, Ohio, brother, Jim and wife, Travis of Cypress Texas, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14 at 2 p.m. at St, John Lutheran Church, 614 Pecan Street, Wharton, Texas 77488. Rev. Robert Lutjens officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
