Rev. Harold W. Schmidt, 83, of Genoa went home peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2108 at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born February 5, 1935 in Blackburn, Missouri to Frank and Bertha (Kellerman) Schmidt. He married Lynne Weber on December 26, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. Harold graduated from the St. Louis Concordia Seminary in 1960. After graduation, he served three churches in Northwestern Wisconsin until 1964 and then became the Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa for 38 years, retiring in 2002. Harold was very active in various church and community organizations, including the Rotary, the Business Council and the Ministerial Association. He loved his Lord, his family and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lynne; four children, David (Joyce) Schmidt, Mark (Mary Jo) Schmidt, Brenda (Patrick) Beach and Darrin (Kari) Schmidt; nine grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Sr. Faustina, Johnien, Daniel, Katelynne, Hope, Patrick and Bradley; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nola. His visitation will be on Friday, July 20 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 North State Road, Genoa and on Saturday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. His funeral service will be on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jeremy Heilman officiating. Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family, to be distributed to various organizations that were passionate to Rev.
