Lutheran Church Missouri Synod , Wheaton College, Chicago Archdiocese Heads Talk About Past, Future

Monday, October 30, Concordia University Chicago is hosting a rare public conversation between denominational leaders on the divergence and convergence of three historic church bodies that emerged after the Reformation.

“The Reformation at 500: An Interdenominational Conversation” is planned as a ticketed event due to limited seating and will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lord on campus, 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest, Illinois.

The conversation participants are Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison president of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Cardinal Blase J. Cupich of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Rev. Dr. Philip Ryken, president of the evangelical Wheaton College. The moderator will be Manya Brachear Pashman, religion correspondent for the Chicago Tribune.

They will talk about the historic and theological divisions emerging from the reformation controversies, as well as points of shared concern and common cause among Christian churches today. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the speakers afterwards.
