“The more children can hear Jesus loves them, the better” says Lois Stewart, the Northern Illinois District’s School Services Coordinator.
Monday, January 29, 2018, Stewart was installed as the NID’s School Services Coordinator, a new position which blends the former duties of the Administrative Assistant and Curriculum Coordinator. Her installation took place during the Northern Illinois District’s Leadership Conference at Concordia University Chicago alongside those she serves.
Since joining the team January 2, 2018, Stewart has been responsible for managing the Church Ministry Information Forms (CMIF), updating and managing District curriculum training and other services, arranging teacher and administrator conferences, working with the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), and assisting Mike Zimmer, Mission Facilitator to Schools, with school visits as part of the accreditation process.
The conference at which Stewart was installed spoke to the continuation of service to Christ through Lutheran schools which proclaim His story, His mission, and His calling. Stewart has lived this message for decades.
After earning her undergraduate degree from Concordia College, River Forest, Stewart moved forward to serve in Lutheran education for 33 years as a teacher, coach, and principal. Over the years, she earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Curriculum, taught all grades except 2nd, and coached every girls’ sport the schools she served offered.
Most recently, Stewart was the principal of St. John’s Lutheran School in Country Club Hills. She and her husband, Ron, are active in their Country Club Hills community where they are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoy recreationally bike riding and gardening.
Since her undergraduate program, Stewart has been overjoyed to “have the opportunity to share faith and love of Jesus with children, no matter what age.” As she enters into her new role, we praise God she will be able to continue vocationally serving him in this way through service to Northern Illinois District schools. It is with gladness and thanksgiving to God, we welcome her to our team.
