Christine Yarroll (nee Brandes), age 78, a commissioned minister in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s Northern Illinois District, was called to glory on April 29. Her husband, Don Yarroll, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Charisse (John) DiMeo, Denver (Janet Kruse) Yarroll, and Monte (Eve) Yarroll, nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was a 1961 graduate of Concordia in River Forest, Illinois. She and her family served as missionaries in New Guinea 1960-1972. She taught in the school ministry of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elmhurst, Illinois, 1973-1978, and St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Illinois, 1978-2004, when she retired.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed her calling as a teacher, a painter and as a musician. Her love of music led her to join the Greater Chicago Orff Schulwerk Association, which builds musicianship through the integration of music, movement, speech and drama. She was corresponding secretary from 1992-1996, vice president from 1996-1997, president from 1998-2000, then past president for two years after.

Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisle, Illinois, on May 5-6.
