On October 1, 2023, members and friends of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Illinois gathered to celebrate the installation of the Rev. Marcus Nelson as Senior Pastor and the Rev. Dr. Scott Bruzek as Assistant Pastor. The Rev. Dr. Allan Buss presided over the installations.
The Rev. Marcus James Nelson is the senior pastor at St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor Nelson is a graduate of Wheaton College and Concordia Theological Seminary. He was ordained and installed as an assistant pastor at St. John on June 3, 2007. Pastor Nelson is married to Holly, and they have four children.
The Rev. Dr. Scott Bruzek is an assistant pastor at St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor Bruzek is a graduate of Stanford University, Concordia Seminary, Cambridge University of England, and Princeton Theological Seminary. He was ordained on August 29, 1993 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Momence, IL. He has been the senior pastor of St. John for the last 26 years. Pastor Bruzek is married to Kirby, and they have three children and one son-in-law.
