The LCMS Northern Illinois District has about a thousand ordained and commissioned church workers that are rostered by The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. They serve as pastors, teachers, principals, deaconesses, directors of Christian education, youth workers, directors of family life, parish nurses, ministers of music and the like in our congregations, schools and charitable/human care ministries. Two in NID Honored with LEA Awards

LEA President Jon Laabs presented the organization’s prestigious Christus Magister award to Rev. William Beckmann on March 5.

Rich Rose Alumni Celebration Concert

Walther Grade School Band program alumni and high school music alumni are invited to participate in an alumni concert with Mr. Richard Rose as he retires.

Rev. Paul Brunner Called to Glory

Pastor Paul Brunner was called to glory on March 21 and visitation and funeral services will be on March 29 and 30.

Dr. Merle Radke Called to Glory

Dr. Merle Radke, of St. Louis, a commissioned minister and long-time professor at Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Illinois, died on March 8, 2017. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 8, at the university.

W. James Kirchhoff Called to Glory

Dr. W. James Kirchhoff, a commissioned minister in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) since 1957 and LCMS Northern Illinois District education executive for 23 years, was called to glory on March 1.

Marilyn Lindeman Called to Glory

Marilyn Lindeman, early leader in Lutheran Early Childhood Education, was called to glory on February 17. Services will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, Illinois, on March 3 and 4.

Former District Pastor Michael Piper Called to Glory

Rev. Michael Piper, age 54, died in Missouri. He was pastor at St. John Lutheran Church in Beecher, Illinois, from 1988 to 1996.

Rev. Donald Matthiessen Called to Glory

Services for Rev. Donald Matthiessen, pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sterling, Illinois, will be on February 15-16 in Rock Falls, Illinois.

Nick Price Ordained, Installed at Lisle

Nick Price was ordained and installed as associate pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lisle, Illinois, to serve as site pastor at their Kimberly Way site.

Former District Pastor James Plackner Called to Glory

Former pastor in the LCMS Northern Illinois District, Rev. James Plackner, died January 12.
