Paul G. Golz, age 41, of Addison, IL, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2024. Paul was born to Scott and Celeste Golz and grew up in Villa Park, IL. He graduated from Willowbrook High School in 2001. He went on to study at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota and Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.
Paul discovered his passion for serving others as a teacher. After graduating from college, he worked as a teacher and then later as principal at Zion-Concord Lutheran School in Addison and Bensenville, IL. There, he met the love of his life, Allison, who was also a teacher at the school. They were married on June 12, 2009 at Zion Lutheran
Church. Paul was the father of three beloved children: Olivia, Zachary, and the late Johanna. He was the dear brother of Heidi (Jon) Alvarez and dear uncle, cousin, nephew, relative, friend, and mentor of many.
Later in his career, Paul was called to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School in Lombard, IL as the 8th grade teacher. You could find Paul supporting the school in numerous areas. He attended Men’s Bible Study at St. John’s and played the trombone during church services. He was a member of the Lutheran Men’s Dart League. He served as the Athletic Director at both St. John’s and Zion-Concord. Paul liked to go on the WALCAMP trips with students to teach them about the outdoors and grow their faith in the Lord. He really enjoyed planning school trips for his students.
Paul was named Teacher of the Year by the LCMS Northern Illinois District and was a member of the Lutheran Education Association.
In his free time, Paul enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked to go bowling with his mom and mother-in-law. Playing board games was a favorite activity for he and his wife. He liked to plan trips for his family. He loved his wife and kids dearly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, IL 60148. Additional parking will be available at First United Methodist Church on the corner of Maple and Main St.
Paul will be lying-in-state on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 215 S. Lincoln St., Lombard, IL 60148. Immediately following the funeral, the committal service will be at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, IL. Following the committal, there will be a funeral luncheon at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In honor of Paul, donations may be made to the family for the education of his children. Please omit flowers.
