Pastors and school administrators new to the LCMS Northern Illinois District (NID) attended the New Worker Gathering held on September 14, 2023 at Walcamp Outdoor Ministries and Retreat Center in Kingston, Illinois. Each year the NID invites pastors and school administrators who are new to the public ministry and new to the NID for such a gathering. It was edifying, encouraging, and engaging. This included both those newly ordained/commissioned or recently transferred to the NID. It is important objective to connect with the Northern Illinois District, people, and partnerships that are available for our church workers.
The meeting started with a devotion and welcome from Rev. Dr. Allan R. Buss, President, LCMS Northern Illinois District. Following, District staff members spoke to the resource available in their respective areas for the church workers. Bill Indelli, Executive Director of Walcamp also gave greetings and shared their camp’s program offerings for youth, families, and groups. Special guests included Rev. Caleb Schauer, NID Church Worker Care Team; Cathy Dulgar, Belize Mission Society; and Lexi Schmidt, Chicago Director LINC Ministries.
