Thirteen SMP Program students received their vicarage assignments on February 6. Two of the students will be serving in the Northern Illinois District, Vicar Christopher Kolupa (front row, second to right) and Vicar Mark Novacek (second row, second to right).

Christopher Kolupa of St. John, Schaumburg and Mark Novacek of Trinity, Roselle have received their Specific Ministry Pastor Program vicarage assignments from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. The Specific Ministry Pastor Program is a distance learning program designed to “incorporate the concurrent practice of ministry and pastoral formation, leading to certification as a specific ministry pastor.” Men begin the program in conjunction with a pastor-mentor and work together throughout the 16 courses. Specific Ministry Pastors often serve as sole pastors in congregations which wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a full-time pastor, as an additional member of a pastoral staff team, or as the pastor of a church plant. We congratulate Vicar Kolupa who will be serving St. John, Schaumburg and Vicar Novacek who will be serving Trinity, Roselle on their continued studies and invite you to join us in for praying for them, their pastor-mentors, and their congregations as they continue together in ministry.
