On July 6, 2025, Reverend Steven Benson was installed as pastor at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois and Concordia Lutheran Church in Machesney Park, Illinois.
He received a Bachelor of General Studies degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb,
Illinois in 2004. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 2009.
Pastor Benson previously served as associate pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in San Diego, California, serving Lift High the Cross Lutheran Church in Alpine, California from 2009 into 2012. He most recently served as pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd, Minnesota since 2012.
Pastor Benson and his wife, Elizabeth, have been married since 1992, and they have three children.
