Rev. Paul R. Schuth, 69, died Saturday, September 17, 2016, after a brief illness. He had retired as senior pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois, in 2013. He was currently living in Pingree Grove, Illinois.
Pastor Schuth was born in Elgin, Illinois, and a 1967 graduate of Concordia College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a 1969 graduate of Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a 1973 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary, then in Springfield, Illinois.
He served congregations in Purdy, Washington; Bedford, Indiana; and Crystal Lake, Illinois, for a total of 40 years. In his retirement he was visitation pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin, Illinois.
He was a longtime servant of the LCMS Northern Illinois District and served as chairman of its Lutheran Church Extension Fund Loan Committee for the Administrative Services Committee until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife Mary, children Scott Schuth of Elmwood Park, Amy Paxton and husband Todd of Lindenhurst, Dann Schuth and wife Jody of Schaumburg, David Schuth and wife Jane of Indianapolis, and Kathy Schuth of South Bend; seven grandchildren; sisters Gail Bruaer, Janet Hemler and Betty Koppen; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 4-8 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 195 Nesler Road, in Elgin. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 24, at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Lunch will follow; interment will be private.
