On November 16, 2026, Reverend John Shumate was installed as Assistant Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Lake Forest, Illinois.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University and a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois.
He previously served two congregations in Minnesota and has spent the bulk of ministry up until this new call at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Illinois.
He and his wife, Loretta, have been married since 1974, and they three adult children.
We welcome Rev. Shumate and his wife to his new call in the LCMS Northern Illinois District!
