Harold O. Krueger, was Called to Glory, Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Rev. Krueger was born February 5, 1926 in Concordia, Missouri to Rev. Ottomar and Esther (nee Steinwedel) Krueger. He attended Concordia College in Fort Wayne, Indiana and received his B.A. & M. Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He served Zion Lutheran Church in Akron, Ohio from 1948-1949, St. Peter Lutheran Church in Kinde, Michigan from 1950-1952, St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lake Zurich, Illinois from 1952-2000 and retired from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in 2013.
He served on the Board of Directors Northern Illinois District from 1985-1991, Board of Regents-Concordia College/River Forest from 1973-1985, Counselor of Circuit #8-Northern Illinois District from 1973-1985, District of Counselor of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League-Northern Illinois District from 1960-1968, Circuit Evangelism Chairman from 1959-1969, Circuit Stewardship Chairman from 1964-1960, Chairman of Pastoral Conference (Two Terms), Missioner for 9 Preaching Teaching Reaching Missions, Coordinator of 3 Mission Survey Forums, Vice Chairman of Board of Social Welfare of the NID from 1964-1970, he was involved in establishing two new Mission Churches, Chairman of Youth Board Michigan District, Lake County Board of American Cancer Society, and Northwest Council of Boy Scouts of America. Rev. Krueger lectured on 5 Holy Land Tours, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and lecturing on the “History of the Cross”.
He is survived by his wife Ruth (nee Grau), his children Mark (Carol), Kaye, Paul (Chris), David (Jan), Gale (Dave), Debra (Drake), 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, the visitation will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Committal will be immediately after the Service in the Cemetery of St. Matthew, with a fellowship luncheon to follow. The church is located at 24500 North Old McHenry Road, between Midlothian and Quentin Roads.
