Rev. Harold I. Wahl Jr., age 72, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Beloved husband of Shirley Wahl, nee Nelson. Loving father of Abigail (Shaun) Ignowski and Judith (Joshua) Witvoet. Proud Papa of Ethan and Tyler. Dear brother of Martha (late Richard) Wickham and Elaine Wahl. Cherished godfather of Colleen Virzi.

Harold was born in Sandusky, Ohio on February 20, 1947. He obtained a degree in Agriculture from The Ohio State University in 1969 and went on to receive his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1977. He was ordained on January 7, 1978. He and his wife, Shirley, were married on November 23, 1979.

During his ministry, Harold served at St. John Lutheran Church in Portage, Wisconsin from 1978-1980, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett, Illinois from 1980-2001, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thornton, Illinois from 2001-2020. He served the Northern Illinois District as a circuit counselor for ten years from 1987-1997. He also served as pastoral adviser to the Lutheran Laymen’s League and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

The visitation was Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 508 Chicago Rd, Thornton, Illinois 60476. The funeral service was held Monday, February 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. David Hudak officiating.
