Donald (Don) William Moll passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at home in the early hours of June 17, 2019 with family nearby. Don was born in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Evelyn (nee Krause) Moll on June 27, 1936. He grew up in Norwood Park, Chicago, Illinois where he attended Our Savior Lutheran elementary school. Don graduated from Luther High North, Chicago in 1954. He received a B.S. degree from Concordia Teacher’s College, River Forest in 1958. In 1962, Don received a Master of Arts degree from Memphis State University and in 1970, he received a Master of Arts in Religion degree from Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Missouri.

On August 3, 1958, Don married Jeanette Marie Magee who preceded him in death in 2009. They were married over 50 years and raised three daughters: Debbie (Matt) Zoellner, Shari (Kurt) Kappel, and Amy (Bill Knowlton) Moll. Don enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren: Andrea, Mike, Jake and Matt and one great grandson: Harrison. Uncle Don also deeply loved his many nieces and nephews including the extended family who informally adopted him as their uncle.

His service to our Lord included Teacher, Immanuel, Memphis, TN (1958-1965); Principal, Immanuel, St. Louis (1965-1970); Pastor, Our Redeemer, Elwood, NE (1970-1977); Immanuel, Batavia (1977-1995); Vacancy Pastor, Word of Life, Naperville, IL (1995-1996); Pastor, Word of Life, Naperville, IL (1996-2001). Don’s life was dedicated to serving the triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The simple phrase, “God is Love”, defined his purpose and guided his every action.

A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road, Batavia Illinois, on June 25, 2019. There will be a Greeting and Fellowship time from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The service will begin at 6:00 p.m. A light meal will be served for all in attendance after the service. Don’s life will also be celebrated in Boise, Idaho at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in early July. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mission Central, 40718 Highway E16, Mapleton, IA 51034-7105. Funds will go to support the Wasmund family who serve as missionaries in East Asia.

As Don now knows and we, too, will one day know, Heaven Is A Wonderful Place!
