The LCMS Northern Illinois District (NID) leadership is now present on the campus of Concordia University Chicago! We are bound together in Christ as we continue to feed the faithful, bring the Gospel to a world in need, and educate students of all ages in Advancing His Kingdom. We are in this together as partners in ministry!

“Being on the campus of Concordia University Chicago will enhance the common work we have been  given in the Church, our communities, and the world for the sake of Jesus and His eternal reign,” says Allan R. Buss, president of the NID. “As with our congregations, schools, and ministries, our partnership with the University creates an engagement in which we are ‘Stronger Together.’ The NID has been encouraging and celebrating partnerships; now we get to practice what we preach! We are humbled and excited by what lies ahead knowing this is the Lord’s time and our privilege.”

The NID office staff now occupy the building at 1107 Monroe Ave. in River Forest, Illinois. We also seek ways to be deployed and connected to ministry. The goal is that we would have a central hub where our official headquarters would be located but that we would also give ourselves the flexibility to pursue scattered single office locations in local churches in various locations around the District. Having
these single office satellite spaces will allow for locations for our ministry staff to communicate to the ministries of the District our desire to stay closely connected to local ministry.

On the afternoon of June 13, 2022, a Service of Praise and Thanksgiving in the Closure of The Lutheran Center was held. President Allan R. Buss led the service for those in attendance which included past employees and other church workers who served in the Northern Illinois District.

Better known as the office of the LCMS Northern Illinois District at 2301 S. Wolf Road in Hillside, Illinois, it was originally commissioned June 17, 1979.

The sale of the LCMS Northern Illinois District (NID) office building at 2301 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois occurred on Thursday, February 24, 2022. This action was taken as a result of a Task Force on Stewardship of District Resources established out of Resolution 2-07 from the Northern Illinois
District’s 59th Convention.

“The literal NID brick and mortar building on Wolf Road should not represent the District. We must remember and insist it’s the congregations, NID president, BOD, and staff that make the District. … but it’s not really about the place. It’s about the MISSION of bringing the Gospel of Christ to the world.” (Task Force on Stewardship of District Resources Report – March 14, 2020)
