Walther Christian Academy’s Board of Directors has announced that Wayne Wenzel, Jr., is their new Head of School as of July 1.

He comes to Walther Christian Academy in Melrose Park, Illinois, after 15 years at Luther North College Prep in Chicago. Wenzel is also a graduate of Luther North and has served there as teacher, coach, principal and head administrator.

Earlier this year, Wenzel was promoted to the head administrator’s position when Luther North announced that the school would suspend academic operations at the end of June. Wenzel assumed that role determined Luther North would complete the school year with the dignity and pride that has been the mantra of Luther North since its inception over 100 years ago as the Luther Institute, he said.

Throughout these difficult and challenging times, the Luther North family has been both appreciative and supportive of his leadership and actions.

Wenzel joins Walther at a time the school is making its own transitions. A middle school academic program will launch in the Melrose Park high school building this August.

The middle school will offer sixth through eighth graders small class sizes, 1 to 1 Chromebooks, access to high school resources, differentiated learning and high school credit courses, plus a wide range of electives and athletic offerings.

In addition, students graduating from Walther Middle School will receive a scholarship advantage when enrolling in the high school. For more information, visit Walther.com or call 708-344-0404, ext. 245.
