Behind every ministry initiative, conference, grant, and program is faithful stewardship—and that’s where LeeAnn Acosta’s work makes an important difference.

As the LCMS Northern Illinois District’s Business Manager and Treasurer, LeeAnn oversees the financial operations that help support the District’s mission. While much of her work takes place behind the scenes, her role helps ensure that the resources entrusted to the District are managed wisely and faithfully so congregations, schools, ministries, and church workers can continue sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.

LeeAnn joined the District staff in the summer of 2017, bringing with her a strong background in accounting and business management. After earning her degree in Accounting and becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), she began her career in public accounting as an auditor. Later, while raising her family, she managed the business operations of her husband’s law firm. Those experiences provided both the professional expertise and practical perspective that continue to serve her well in her current role.

One of LeeAnn’s favorite aspects of serving the District is the opportunity to work alongside and serve God’s people. Whether collaborating with fellow staff members or supporting congregations and ministry leaders, she finds joy in knowing her work contributes to the larger mission of the Church.

Family is one of God’s greatest blessings in LeeAnn’s life. She and her husband are the parents of five grown children. Two of their children are now married, and they are the proud grandparents of two grandchildren. Spending time with family continues to be one of life’s greatest joys.

A Bible passage that has been especially meaningful to LeeAnn is John 16:33: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” She finds comfort in Christ’s promise that although hardship, loss, and challenges are part of life, true peace is found in Him. The verse serves as a daily reminder that Jesus is greater than any difficulty she may face.

LeeAnn’s journey into church work began in an unexpected way. When her oldest child started preschool, her family enrolled him in a Lutheran preschool. Through the ministry of that school and the faithful witness of its pastor, God drew their family into a deeper relationship with Him and a greater appreciation for the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Looking back, LeeAnn recognizes that experience as one of the ways God was preparing her for a life of serving His Church.

For LeeAnn, faithful stewardship is about more than managing finances—it’s about caring for the gifts God has entrusted to His people so that the mission of the Church can continue to flourish. Through her work with the Northern Illinois District, she is grateful to use her gifts in service to God’s Kingdom and the people He has called to share His love.
