January 2017

Is attendance at church, Sunday School, VBS, and Bible study enough to build a solid foundation of Christian faith in your child, your grandchild, or your own life?

A workshop titled “Family Ministry 101” will be held 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 25, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Barrington, Illinois. This workshop will address how families and individuals can most effectively nurture growth in faith through family devotions, prayer time, music and faith activities.

The workshop is for parents and grandparents of children both young and older. It also is applicable to couples and individuals seeking to strengthen their own faith life.

The workshop will be led by Rev. Jason Weber, from Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church, McHenry, Illinois, Jeff Kester, director of high school ministry and contemporary worship at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and Gwen Johnson.

Weber and Kester are founders of an online resource called Concepts in Ministry (conceptsinministry.org). Concepts in Ministry is a group of student ministry leaders who offer resources, training materials and training events for churches looking for solutions in student and family ministry.

A light lunch will follow, and free childcare will be provided. There is a charge of $5 per person to cover the cost of food. St. Matthew Lutheran Church is located at 720 Dundee Avenue in Barrington. Register online at stmatthewbarrington.org or by calling 847-382-7002.
