May 2025
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, two members of the LCMS Northern Illinois District staff were able to visit with students from St. Paul Lutheran School on Dorchester Avenue in Chicago.
Our NID President, Rev. Dr. Allan R. Buss, and Lois Stewart, the NID Education Executive, brought pizza to share with the 7th and 8th grade students for lunch that day as a “thank you” from the District for their willingness to participate in recording the theme scripture verses for a recorded video which was shared at the District convention held March 7-8, 2025 at Concordia University Chicago.
This visit once again reminded President Buss and Mrs. Stewart what a blessing St. Paul Lutheran School is as it serves the Grand Crossing community on the south side of Chicago. They were able to be firsthand witnesses to the students’ joy for Jesus. Additionally, they discussed what these students love about their school and what they look forward to in their upcoming high school years.
These students, along with all the other students learning and growing in faith in our Lutheran schools throughout our District, are a blessing to us. Our convention theme, “Stronger Together: Co-Workers for the Kingdom of God,” continues to guide us, and we are thankful to these students from St. Paul, in particular, for sharing in this way toward our mission. Indeed, we are stronger together!
