NID Women Leaders Among WLI Speakers

The Women’s Leadership Institute conference is an opportunity for women to hone their leadership skills and develop confidence in their various roles at home, at church, and in the business world. WLI aims to answer the question, “What does a Christian leader look like in today’s world?” The conference is September 29 to October 1 in Milwaukee and feature two different sessions: Pressure Points and Gifted to Influence.

Pressure Points is a one-day session on Friday, September 29 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), open to men and women. This event will feature TED-style talks on topics relevant to professionals in the secular workplace. All are designed to help men and women live out their faith as they lead.

The second session begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m., and continues until 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 1. This Gifted to Influence conference will help women in all stages of life to connect with other women and learn how to lead well in their roles at home, in the community, at church, and in the business world. This conference also includes a Writer’s Track and a Speaker’s Track. Writers and speakers seeking to improve these skills will find a series of excellent workshops on these topics.

Women receive a discount when registering for both events.

Two of the speakers at the Gifted to Influence conference are from the Northern Illinois District. Linda Arnold, member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle, Illinois, and chair of the WLI board, will be speaking on leading volunteers in her presentation, “Volunteers: Cared for and Connected.” Author Sharla Fritz, wife of Pastor John Fritz serving at Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora, Illinois, will be presenting “Bible Journeys: Teaching Scripture Like a Tour Guide” and “7 Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started Speaking.”

For registration go to WLIcuw.org/event. The conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee. Block rate rooms are available until August 29 only.

Women’s Leadership Institute is a servant institute of Concordia University Wisconsin at Mequon.
