Rev. Donald Hoffmann, 87 years old, of Lena, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016.
Don was born in Menominee, Wisconsin on October 27,1929 to Rev. Otto E. & Ella W. (nee: Baumann) Hoffmann. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois and was ordained in 1953. He married Marion Mae (nee: Ristow) of Winona, Minnesota on June 22, 1952. He faithfully and passionately served Lutheran congregations, circuits and districts of the LCMS for more than 50 years including churches in Nelson, Wisconsin, Wabasha, Minnesota, Elizabeth, Winfield, Walnut and Lena, Ilinois. Don was an active Fire Department Chaplain, a passionate barber shop chorus singer and an avid Lions Club member. He loved everything that had to do with the outdoors but hunting and fishing with grandkids most of all.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion; brother Myron (Pat) Hoffmann; sister Concordia; Son Gregory (Tina); daughter Holly Quinn (John); grandchildren Jason (Shelby) Hoffmann; Sara (Kyle) Compton; David (Jessica) Hoffmann; Eric Hoffmann, Ashley Hoffmann; Brandon (Amber) Hoffmann and Caitlyn Hoffmann. Also loved were his Great grandchildren; Ashlee, Hunter, Arianna, Jaxon, Tate, Zoey, Olive and Charlotte.
The funeral was held Wednesday, January 4, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church, Lena, Illinois. Memorials can be directed to L.A.M.P. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com.
