Ernest “Ted” Theodore Lams II, age 82, was beloved husband of Nancy Lams, nee Mueller; devoted father of Todd (Carolyn) Lams, Natalie (George) Lazarz, and Erich (Jenny) Lams; loving grandfather of Erica (Eric) Davis, Julia (Alex) Hermansen, Steven (Brittany) Lams, Ashley (Jacob) Lutsch, Morgan, Jacob, Amanda, and Matthew Lams, and Valerie Kleier; great-grandfather of Wyatt Davis, Theo Hermansen, and Tate Davis; brother of John (Lenore) Lams, Fred (Becky) Lams, and Julie (Peter) Preus; uncle of many beloved nieces and nephews and cousin to many.

He was son to Rev. Edgar and Dorcas Lams, nee Gade, of Christ Lutheran Church in Oak Park, Illinois. Known by all who loved him as “Ted,” his faith in God was strengthened by those who came before him. He strived to emulate them as he taught those around him, leading by example in faith and love. His commitment to God, family, and church was unwavering. Ted was a gifted and talented musician who loved to serve his Lord as church organist. He was also a school teacher for fifty years, for forty of those serving as school principal, teacher, bus driver, and coach. He served on the LCMS Northern Illinois District Board of Directors and as a beloved mentor to many of his peers and students. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who believed God’s greatest gift to him was his family. He will be missed by all. He fell asleep in the arms of his Savior on April 13, 2026. To God be the glory. Amen!

Visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 9035 Grant Ave., Brookfield, Illinois 60513. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois.
