April 2024
“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:15)
Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana both recently held their Candidate Call and Vicarage and Deaconess Internship Assignment services. These services mark both an end to one phase of a student’s education and a new beginning for those same students as they find out where they will be placed in service to the Lord and His people.
We celebrate with those students who received vicarage and deaconess internships and pastoral and diaconal calls. We are grateful for these men and women who prepare to soon enter into service. The LCMS Northern Illinois District is one of many districts blessed to have received some of these new placements.

The seminaries recognize and celebrate calls throughout the year, although the campus’ primary Call Day celebrations are held in April. On Call Day, second-year students receive their assignments for vicarages and deaconess internships and concluding students receive their first calls to ministry. All calls and assignments for service are to churches or ministries within The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS).
We thank God for the blessings received through those serving our congregations.
