August 2017

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana, will be hosting the peer-led ministry conference Best Practices in Ministry: Heartland on October 11-13. It is an opportunity to gather with Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation leaders and share the best of what congregations are doing in ministry and outreach.

Keynote speaker Rev. Jock Ficken will share his perspective on ministry from being in the parish to being executive director of PLI with his wife working closely at his side.

A second keynote speaker, Rev. Eric Trickey, of St. Paul, Decatur, Illinois, will share his perspective on challenges in the parish.

Registration and food are free. There will be breakout sessions from at least 50 presenters and samples from a variety of exhibitors. All you pay for is your travel and lodging. Best Practices conferences, which first started in the Phoenix area and then spread to the Midwest several years ago, are one avenue for learning how to gain strength, vitality and vision for being fully engaged in the local community.
