Alexi Lundquist, a student from Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois, joins the staff at Faith Lutheran Church, Lake Forest, Illinois, interning as their new Director of Christian Education. His first official Sunday is June 4.
Faith congregation is excited about this gift from God and the increased ministry for the youth and young adults, both in the church and in the community.
Being raised in a family with a church worker, Alexi says he knew he always wanted to teach. At one point it was music, then art, and finally he felt called to teach Christian education.
“I felt called that I am supposed to help,” he said. “I didn’t know what it would look like or how it would happen, but I live to help. I continue my work every day because there is always someone who needs help.”
During his internship, Alexi hopes to connect with members at Faith to create new opportunities not only for youth, but for all members of the congregation. This might be by creating service opportunities for the church or by creating Bible studies where he can learn right alongside the members of the congregation, he says.
