Pastor Alex Marque and his wife, April

Pastor Alex was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Valparaiso University for his undergraduate degree in theology and classics. After his time at Valparaiso, Pastor Alex moved to Saint Louis for his seminary education, graduating in 2014.

Before taking his first call to the Rockford area, Pastor Alex decided to pursue further graduate studies at Concordia Seminary and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation on early church interpretation of the Bible.

His passion for community outreach, discipleship and spiritual mentoring, and education in the Christian faith motivated Pastor Alex to stay involved in ministry during his PhD studies. He has spent time in college campus ministry and young adult small group ministries in the Saint Louis area, while filling in at local churches with preaching duties.

Pastor Alex was blessed with the opportunity to serve as an adjunct professor at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, teaching courses on early church history, theology of missions, biblical Greek, and world religions.

It is Pastor Alex’s fervent prayer to be ever shaped by Christ’s love and grace as he serves in God’s kingdom.

In his free time, Pastor Alex loves to read about ancient history, play the electric bass and compose music, weight lift, and, most importantly, dote on his amazing and beautiful wife, April. The two are thrilled to be serving God’s people at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
