December 2024 – Winter Ministry Update
Supporting Workers of the Word: Today + Tomorrow
Which church worker most influenced you in your faith life? A pastor? Teacher? Youth worker? Music Director? What would The Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod be without our church workers? We are grateful for our current church workers. The Lord of the Church cares for church workers, and He chooses to do that through the saints within His churches.
We give thanks to God for those He will call to be the church workers of tomorrow. Their energy and enthusiasm for Kingdom work is inspiring. Here’s what a scholarship recipient, Pastor Ted Fischer, wrote about his financial aid: During my time at seminary, it was a huge encouragement to know that the District I grew up in was behind me all the way. I can’t imagine becoming a pastor without the support of the NID. Now that I have been called to pastoral ministry in the NID, I have the utmost confidence that the District cares for its future and current pastors and church workers in all they do.
New church worker, Deaconess Karina Mazariegos, shared her feelings about her scholarship: Having financial aid as a called worker of God is an incredible blessing. It means I can dedicate myself fully to God’s mission without the weight of financial uncertainties. This support allows me to focus 100% on serving, sharing His Word, and impacting lives. As Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” I am deeply grateful to be called by Him, and it’s a privilege to be sustained in this journey. This provision is not just financial; it’s a constant reminder of God’s faithfulness and the importance of the work He has called me to do.
Led and upheld by the Lord of the Church, we are stronger together as we care for the physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial wellness of our church workers.
